I once read a quote that got me thinking and gave me a new
perspective about using “fears” properly, and that is “Don’t fear failure, fear
being in the exact same place next year as you are today”. This got me thinking
about a lot and I want to share some of those thoughts with you.
For various reasons, some people remain in same place, make
no effort and stick to the familiar. This can be termed as the “comfort zone”.
However, there’s a danger associated with this and that is external influences
will have authority over them. These influences can shape their lives as it so
desires. As earlier stated, this could be due to various reasons; however this
post is for those whose reason is “Fear of making mistakes”.
Be careful what you fear. The fear of doing nothing,
achieving nothing and becoming nothing should
be way bigger than the fear of
making mistakes. Making mistakes is simply a means to an end. It’s like a path
that leads to a desired end and I am yet to see a man on a journey that fears
the path that will lead him to his destination. I challenge you to dare, try
new things, make effort and break off from the familiar. It’s not so difficult;
it’s all in the mind. You have nothing to lose yet so much to gain. In making
mistakes, you can discover who you truly are, learn how to forgive, grow and
evolve etc.
So go out today and ask that girl out, if she says no then
you have learnt one way not to ask a girl out. Start that new business, if it
fails, then you have learnt one way not to cripple a business. The lessons are
endless but you will never know if you remain in the comfort zone due to fear
of failure.
Quote: “A life spent making mistakes is not only more
honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing” – George Bernard
Shaw
