Scene from "Breaking Bad": Being in Control

Unexpected situations embrace us daily but that doesn't mean you can't be in control of your life. In fact, if you're not, then something or someone else is. If we think we don't have control of our lives because we see our obstacles as insurmountable, we stay where we are, and our problems are guaranteed to become steady companions.

You stay in control by knowing what it is that you want and acting accordingly, and not to the wishes and influences of the people, environment and situations around you. Being in control also makes you attractive to others because you’re powerful.

The picture above is a scene from a TV Series "Breaking Bad". It shows two cancer patients, Walter White and another, whom I will call Bob (as his name wasn't mentioned) :) . The following is their dialogue while waiting
for their scan. I hope you learn something from it.

Bob: "I'm still pretty new at this.I mean, one minute I'm starting a new business. My wife and I are thinking about having kids. Walk into a doctor's office, and suddenly, boom-- Life as I know it  --"
"Excuse me" - Walt interrupted {Speaking on the phone} "Yes. I'm  -- I'm waiting to hear a progress report on that thing we discussed. So call me" {Drops call}
Bob continued: "Anyway, so for me, that's been the biggest wake-up call, letting go, giving up control. It's like they say you know, man plans and God laughs."
"That is such bullshit" - Walt uttered
Bob: "Excuse me?"
Walt : "Never give up control. Live life on your own terms."
Bob:"Yeah. No. I get what you're saying.But  -- But, uh, cancer's cancer, so  --"
Walt: "Oh, to hell with your cancer. I've been living with cancer for the better part of a year. Right from the start, it's a death sentence. It's what they keep telling me. Well, guess what. Every life comes with a death sentence. So every few months, I come in here for my regular scan, knowing full well that one of these times  --, hell, maybe even today  --, I'm going to hear some bad news. But until then, who's in charge? Me. That's how i live my life".
