The DIFFERENCE

Following the Trends and Events in our world today, it is clear that Success is for those who dare to be different. How can two people who started same journey and in the same situation end up with different results?. Why would one, out of twelve applicants be selected for a job?. How can an employee be promoted twice while his colleague that started off with him haven't be promoted at all?.

The answer to the above can be seen in what they possess "BEING DIFFERENT". Below is a story about two friends that started off same day in a job, but ended up differently. I hope it Inspires you.


Tunde and Oma joined a wholesale company together just after graduation. Both worked very hard.


After several years, the boss promoted Oma to sales executive but Tunde remained a sales rep. One day Tunde could not take it anymore, tender resignation to the boss and complained the boss did not value hard working staff, but only promoted those who flattered him.

The boss knew that Tunde worked very hard for the years, but in order to help Tunde realize the difference between him and Oma, the boss asked Tunde to do the following. Go and find out anyone selling water melon in the market?. Tunde returned and said yes. The boss asked how much per kg?. Tunde went back to the market to ask and returned to inform boss that it is ₦120 per kg.

Boss told Tunde, I will ask Oma the same question. Oma went, returned and said, “Boss, only one person has water melon in stock. He sells ₦120 per kg, ₦1000 for 10 kg, he has inventory of 270 melons. On the table 58 melons, every melon weighs about 8 kg, bought from the North two days ago, they are fresh and red, good quality”. Tunde was very impressed and realized the difference between himself and Oma. He decided not to resign but to learn from Oma.

One of the key things to becoming a more successful person is to be more observant, think more and understand in depth. A more successful person sees several years ahead, while the “ordinary” man sees only tomorrow. The difference between a year and a day is 365 times, how far have you seen ahead in your life?.  How thoughtful in depth are you?.
